- In February, 180 Midshipmen report for first run of Navy Supply Corps Midshipmen-Officers School, a 12-month program to study management problems inherent in Navy supply operations
- The first "War Production Training" class, a wartime program aimed at making older managers useful to the war effort, enrolls in February; it later emerges as direct precursor to the Advanced Management Program for senior executives.
